ASC-Professor Veronika Grimm appointed to Germany’s most important economic policy advisory body
Their judgement carries great weight in German economic policy: The “five economic wise men and women” assess the overall economic development in Germany and thus help the political authorities to make decisions for economic policy. ASC-Professor Veronika Grimm has now been appointed to the committee as a new member.
Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm is head of the Chair of Economics, in particular Economic Theory, at FAU. For ASC she gives the lecture Game Theory with Applications to Information Engineering. Her research focuses on behavioural economics, industrial economics, auctions and market design, the latter with a focus on energy markets.
In particular, the extensive work in the field of energy research will provide new impulses in the German Council of Economic Experts. “The path to a climate-neutral economy and society affects not only the energy industry, but also large parts of Germany’s key industries,” explains Grimm “The transformation processes already underway and still to come pose great challenges but also opportunities for Germany and Europe. Much will depend on whether Germany and Europe pursue a wise economic policy”.
Veronika Grimm is chairwoman of the scientific management of the Energy Campus Nuremberg (EnCN) as well as board member of the recently founded Center Hydrogen.Bavaria (H2.B). In addition, Prof. Grimm is a member of various high-profile national and European advisory bodies such as the Scientific Advisory Council of the Federal Ministry of Economics, the Expert Commission on the monitoring process “Energy of the Future” or the “European Academies’ Scientific Advisory Council” (EASAC).
The main task of the five economic wise men and women is to prepare an annual report that presents the economic situation and its foreseeable development. In addition, the Council is commissioned to prepare special reports on specific topics or economic forecast updates as required.
